Can you match orange peel or knockdown?
Yes. Orange peel is a fine spray texture that looks like the skin of an orange. Knockdown is sprayed or applied in larger spots and then flattened with a knife. The texture is built up on the patch and adjusted until it reads the same as the wall around it.
What about smooth walls?
Smooth walls hide nothing, so the patch has to be flat. We feather the finish wide, sand it smooth and prime it, then check it with a light held along the wall to catch any ridge.
Will the patch show after paint?
A matched texture and a primed patch take paint the same way as the wall around them. The other part is the paint itself. Older paint can fade or yellow, so touching up only the patch can show. Painting the wall corner to corner gives the most even result.
How do I show you my texture?
Take a close photo of the wall with light coming from the side, such as a window or a lamp. That shows the texture pattern clearly. Add it to your photo quote.
