Questions

How much does drywall repair cost?

It depends on the size and number of damaged spots, whether the wall or ceiling is textured, how high up the damage is, and whether there was water damage. We do not post prices because every repair is different. Send photos and we send an itemized quote that lists each repair.

How does the photo quote work?

Start a photo quote from your phone. Take a wide photo of the wall or ceiling and a close photo of each damaged spot, with a phone, water bottle or tape measure next to it for scale. We measure from the photos and send you a private quote page with each repair listed. It takes about 5 minutes.

Is there a deposit?

Yes. The deposit to book is half of your quote, and it is never less than our base visit price. Your quote page shows the exact deposit before you book.

How long does a drywall repair take?

It depends on the size of the repair and drying time. Small patches can often be finished in a day. Larger patches, ceilings and water damage may need more than one visit so each coat can dry before the next. If you add painting, plan on about one more day.

Can you match my wall texture?

Yes. We match common finishes such as smooth, orange peel and knockdown. A close photo of the wall with light coming from the side, like a window or lamp, helps us see your texture.

Will the patch show after I paint?

A patch that is feathered wide, sanded flat and primed takes paint the same way as the wall around it. Older paint can fade or yellow, so touching up only the patch can show. Painting the wall corner to corner gives the most even result.

Do you paint too?

Every patch is primed so it is ready for paint. If you want painting as well, choose it when you send your photos. Painting is quoted separately because it depends on the room and the paint.

How much mess and dust should I expect?

We cover floors and furniture near the work and keep sanding to the repair area. Drywall dust is very fine, so some dust is possible, and we clean up the work area before we leave. Moving small items away from the wall before we arrive helps.

My drywall got wet. Does it have to be replaced?

Not always. A light stain on drywall that stayed firm can often be sealed and painted. Drywall that is soft, swollen, crumbling or sagging has to be cut out and replaced. The leak must be fixed and the area dry before any repair.

What if I see or smell mold?

Have a mold remediation specialist look at it before the wall is repaired. We do not do mold remediation. Drywall repair comes after that work is done.

Do you fix the leak that caused the damage?

No. The source of the leak needs to be repaired first, by a plumber or roofer if needed. We repair the drywall once it is fixed and dry.

Can you repair a ceiling without redoing the whole room?

Usually, yes. The damage is cut back to sound drywall, patched, and finished to match the ceiling around it, so only the damaged area is redone.

My ceiling has popcorn texture. Can you patch it?

Popcorn is harder to match than wall textures, so send a close photo and we will tell you what to expect before we start. Popcorn ceilings from before the 1980s can contain asbestos and should be tested before anyone disturbs them. We do not do asbestos testing or abatement.

Can I use your quote for an insurance claim?

Our itemized quote lists each repair, and you are welcome to share it with your insurance company or adjuster. We cannot tell you what your policy covers, and your insurer decides what they will pay. Check with them before work starts if you plan to file a claim.

What areas do you serve?

We serve homes in Nashville and nearby towns, including Green Hills, Belle Meade, Bellevue, Franklin, Brentwood, Nolensville, Spring Hill, Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Mt. Juliet and Hendersonville. If you are not sure we cover your street, include your ZIP code with your quote request.

Do you work on rentals and investment properties?

Yes. Landlords and property managers can send photos of every damaged spot in a unit and get one itemized quote, which helps with turnovers between tenants.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Nashville Drywall Repair is licensed and insured.
